Last year during the summer Joshua Kambala, my brother, did a Summer Fundraiser with the help of LifePath Systems involving things that would be helpful for parents with kids suffering from Autism. We raised around $500 dollars worth of supplies such as diapers and cleaning wipes. Last September I started to work on the Winter Fundraiser which we center around Christmas which involved sensory toys as well as toiletries. The effort had 2 main steps fundrasing and delivery.
The planning was arguably the hardest part of this effort involving the opinions of many. Since we were aiming for this to be a Christmas drive toys were pretty much a given, but we also decided to add Hygienic products such as mouthwash, shampoo, and deodorant. Similar to the last fundraiser we set up a Amazon Gift Cart which allowed us to easily send a link to anyone willing to donate. We added a ton of sensory toys to it so donators could choose what toy they would like to donate. The toiletries were bought by us, which led to 31 different packages each including mouthwash, deodorant, shampoo, body lotion, and a few other useful items like a razor.
Delivery was done through the help of LifePath Systems, an organization that helps people with disabilities, they needed the items before the end of November so they could have time to plan and distribute the goods. Delivery went as planned with us donating around 2 boxes full of toys as well as 31 small bags containing toiletries. The whole delivery and distribution process was made a lot easier with the support of LifePath.
The fundraiser was successful and we hope that anyone benefiting from these goods is able to gain something beneficial from them. If you are interested in viewing and pictures from the fundraiser you can find those on our Autism Aid Website.
